To See, Written to Jesus (Original Poem)

they say the eyes are the window to the soul

they say that your eyes glow

they say I should know

that truth is supposed to be you

but what is said is often a façade of reality

cities of words written, spoken

tearing us open

meaning less and less

as if more words should mean more

the Word battling words

with a sword that is living and effective

it cuts my sores

but which words are yours?

silent on shattered concrete

alongside a silhouetted paraclete

the Holy Ghost helps me believe

that every word in Sacred Scripture is from Jesus to me
